Quality assurance checks on Braille text have been massively enhanced at leading pharmaceutical and healthcare cartons manufacturer Cartonplex, with investment in a brand new cutting edge inspection system equipment.

Cartonplex has purchased innovative DotScan technology, which is capable of measuring the height and position of Braille dots on cartons, in order to ensure that the Braille complies with international standards and secures customer satisfaction by delivering the highest possible quality level.

The Dotscan equipment completes the carton inspection process in less than two seconds per position, making the production significantly more efficient and practically eliminating error risks compared to traditional visual inspections.

The DotScan investment follows Cartonplex’s recent expansion of its computer-to-plate capabilities with the installation of a Fuji V9600 printer and specialist high-performance software from Esko Graphics, in order to offer the latest anti-counterfeiting measures to its broad base of pharmaceutical customers.

Cartonplex is renowned for its technological capacity at all stages of the production process, including pre-press design, ink preparation with technical support, computer-to-plate equipment to convert digitally transmitted images into offset printing plates, five and six colour printing presses and extensive cutting, varnishing and finishing equipment.

Cartonplex General Manager Joan Gamez said: “Our DotScan investment takes our ability to produce market-leading pharmaceutical and healthcare cartons to a new level and ensures we remain at the forefront of technological developments within our industry.

“Inspection equipment which makes the production process more efficient and raises our reputation for complete reliability even further will be greatly appreciated by our customers, who know we continually strive to provide them with the very best possible service.”
