Leading European lids and shrink sleeves manufacturer Nyco has significantly increased its capacity with the purchase of a hybrid printing press to complement its existing extensive range of gravure and UV-flexo printing presses.
The Swiss firm, part of the international Clondalkin Group, has invested in a five colour Drent Goebel VSOP combination press, so that it can offer all its shrink sleeve and wrap-around labels customers greater production efficiency and flexibility and state-of-the-art printing capabilities.
The new printing press will be used by Nyco to produce full surface and reverse shrink sleeves and wrap-around labels for its customers in the dairy, confectionery, fresh foods and beverage and pharmaceutical markets. The combination printing press features five UV-offset units, one UV-flexo unit and one gravure unit. This combination of offset, flexography and gravure printing in one single printing press is new state-of-the-art technology. In addition, to permitting new and exciting product finish options, the press runs at 300 metres per minute.
Backing up its state-of-the-art printing technology, NYCO also boasts state-of-the-art pre-press, slitting and sleeving, die-cutting and web inspection equipment.
This latest combination press investment forms part of an on-going commitment to systems renewal and improved service provision. Nyco General Manager Christian Steeb said: “This investment provides us with even faster turn-around on work for our customers while elevating our high-quality finish capability to totally new levels of excellence. We are proud to be the leading bench-mark standard setters and with this investment we have once again raised the bar.
“The new combination press has shorter set up times and allows for more efficient format changes, as well as giving us increased flexibility to support our extensive press combinations.”
